About Us

Missouri Outdoor Experience is an organization of concerned outdoorsmen and women founded on December 7, 2006. It was founded by fifteen original members. These fifteen, through brainstorming sessions spanning a period of at least two years decided the time was right to develop an organization that's sole focus was exposing youth to the outdoor sports, particularly hunting and fishing.

Our organization fully supports all outdoor focused organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, The National Wild Turkey Federation, Quail Unlimited, and The Missouri Waterfowl Association. We are also supportive of the efforts put forth by the Missouri Department of Conservation to recruit Missouri's youth to the sports of hunting and fishing.

It is our contention as founding members of Missouri Outdoor Experience that all of these fine organizations have great programs in place to expose youth to the outdoors, and we support every one of them. At the same time each of those organizations has a Mission or focus separate from seeking out, mentoring and teaching youths about the outdoors. Sometimes, due to the lack of volunteers and the focus on another Mission their efforts can suffer. This is through no fault of the organization; it is just a fact of life in our busy society.

The founding members of MOE are convinced that with their Mission solely focused on exposing youth to the outdoors, MOE can become a catalyst to bring together youths with varied outdoor interests, expose them to the wonders of the outdoors, and hopefully set them on their way to a lifetime of enjoyment of an outdoor lifestyle they might never have been exposed to otherwise.

Although MOE has programs and people in place to perform this important task alone it will also work with other outdoor groups like those mentioned above in order to help them accomplish their goals in working with the youths of Missouri. MOE takes the stance that any group that does anything positive to expose youth to the outdoors is worthy of our assistance. We also recognize that the job at hand is too large for any one organization to perform alone. The goal of exposing more youths to the sport can only become a reality by everyone working together toward a common goal.

Last, it is MOE's goal to instill in the youths that it comes into contact with a respect for the outdoors and its traditions, an awareness of proper safety while in the outdoors, and a consciousness of how we as outdoorsmen and women are perceived by the public at large.

The Staff and Members of Missouri Outdoor Experience are convinced that all of these efforts are of vital importance in order to pass on the outdoor traditions and values that have been so graciously handed down to us.
