We began the 2008 youth turkey hunt with the MDC and MOE arriving at the Green Conservation Area on Friday evening. After everyone got there we sat down and introduced ourselves. We talked about gun safety and patterned our shotguns. Everyone enjoyed some Sticky Pig B.B.Q. We then learned how to I.D. turkeys and practiced our turkey calls. My Dad and I brought the camper. We got to Charles Green Conservation Area on Friday night. After we got there we shot our guns at a turkey head target to see if we could get the right amount of pellets in the turkey head. Brian from MDC showed us how to identify hens, gobblers and jakes and he showed us a video on turkey hunting. We had pulled pork and baked beans with sticky pig bbq sauce. Youth Turkey Season 2004
It was youth season of 2004. I was turkey hunting with my Uncle Jeff on his farm in Maries County. We roosted some turkeys the night before and figured we had a good idea where they would strut the next morning. So the next morning we got in the woods before sunrise and set out decoys and got in our blind. Everything was quiet and nothing was going on so we decided to make something happen. Entire Story
